Group--Investigation: Unhealthy Hospitals
|
Can you
imagine going into the hospital for heart or knee surgery, contracting an
infection that's unrelated to your illness, and dying from it? That's
what happens to an estimated 90,000 people every year, yet hospitals still
don't have to disclose their rates of infection. Hospitals don't even have
to report their infection rates to the regulators who are responsible for
making sure they meet basic standards. That's why
Consumers Union is launching a new campaign called
StopHospitalInfections.org. We want
basic quality of care information like hospital infection rates to be
available to the public so consumers can make informed decisions about
where they go for health care. Will you please help by contacting Congress
now? Just click
the banner above to email your U.S. Senators urging them to make
hospitals disclose their infection rates. And don't
forget to tell all your family and friends! |
